15th June 2006: We have bought a new chat software with the donation money which will greatly enhance our chat room. We plan to have this up and running by early July.

1st June 2006: We have paid for a second dedicated server which will serve just the forums (thailandqa.com) and the chat room (thaichatbox.com). This is in anticipation of increased usage and new and better chat software.

17th April 2006: We used some of the donation money to buy a program that imported video files into a Flash player. This is being used on our new thailandvideoblogs.com website.

20th March 2006: Most of our websites are on a dedicated server which isn't managed. This means we have to do most things ourselves. Due to the increase of people connecting to the websites at the same time we have seen an overall slowing down of speed. The config files needed to be edited as well as a few other things. As we couldn't do this ourselves, we used $100 from the donation money to pay a professional to tweak our server. The result was instantaneous. Everything is working much quicker now, even during our peak times.

12th February 2006: We used some money from the donations to buy a recipe script for enjoythaifood.com. Many people have asked for recipes to be put on our site. Although this script is relatively expensive, we think it is a really good one. We are sure everyone will be as excited about it as we are. Hopefully it should be up and running within a few weeks.

7th January 2006: Since December 21st, some of our web sites saw an increse of visitors by about 80%. Although it sounds like good news, it was actually too much of a drain on server resources. Peak time was between 4.30 p.m. and 10 p.m. every day for several weeks. During this period the response time on the forums, chat room and blogs were quite slow. To help solve this problem, today we bought a new server exclusively for the forums. The forums are now on the new server and pages take an average of 0.3 seconds to load. It is possible we might move the blogs and chat room there too or we might buy another server for them.

29th November 2005: Money donated so far has already been put to good use. In the end, everyone will benefit from every donation we get.

This is what we have spent the donation money on so far:

(1) We bought a new server to help spread the load during peak periods. This is for some of the music files for ethaimusic.com

(2) We have hired another full-time worker to be a part of our Paknam Web team. Her name is Pensiri. She will be typing up content for the Learning Thai Project.

(3) We have bought a program for our students to make cartoon strips. We reckon this is going to be an excellent and fun way for you to learn Thai. The cartoon strips will be at all levels and will be bilingual. You can see an example here:

Well, as you can see, we have already put the donations made so far to good use.

28th November 2005: We have had a good response so far. We need to raise 1 million baht over a three year period. So far we have raised 12,800 baht. A long way to go but a good start.

27th November 2005: The Million Baht Project is launched on the forums and blogs.
